Photobiomodulation

(Low Level Laser Therapy, Photobiomodulation Therapy, Laser Therapy)

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is the application of red and near infra-red light over injuries or lesions to improve wound and soft tissue healing, reduce inflammation and give relief for both acute and chronic pain.

LLLT does not heat tissues, instead it works a little like photosynthesis in plants. LLLT reduced oxidative stress and increases the body's energy molecule ATP.

Oxidative stress plays a major role in the development and maintenance of chronic pain. Many chronic pain patients experience immediate relief that conventional treatment has not been able to provide.

Research by THOR indicates significant reduction of inflammation equal to or better than anti-inflammatory medication within 2 hours, analgesic effects that last for 48 hours and healing time of chronic tendinopathies reduced by 70%.

There are 3000 published clinical studies on the efficacy of Laser including those in the British Medical Journal and British Journal of Sports medicine with over 300 randomised clinical trials and a systematic review published in the Lancet.
